Dr. Brad Thomas - President

Dr. Brad Thomas

Dr. Brad Thomas was re-elected to Board of Education in 2017 and re-appointed in 2020.  A 1977 graduate of Ritenour High School, Mr. Thomas has been a resident of the district for more than 50 years. 

Dr. Thomas was first elected to the board in 2000.  He served as President from 2003-2007 and 2015-2018 and Vice President from 2002-2003.

During Dr. Thomas’ first tenure, the Ritenour Board of Education was selected for the prestigious MSBA Education Leadership Team Award four times (2001, 2005, 2006, 2007). The award is given to school boards that serve as statewide or regional leaders, are committed to professional development, participate in advocacy for public schools, and implement successful education policies. 

During his term as President of the Board, Ritenour received the national Magna Award from the American School Board Journal. 

He has earned distinction with a Masters Level certification from the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA).

In addition to his role on the Board of Education, Dr. Thomas has also volunteered as a Boy Scout leader, worked with for Citizens for Ritenour’s Future and Kids Voting, and served as a substitute teacher in the Pattonville School District.

Dr. Thomas is a 1979 graduate of Ranken Technical College. He went on to earn an associate degree from St. Louis Community College – Florissant Valley in 2003 and a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in 2007.   In 2009, Dr. Thomas received a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Lindenwood University.  He earned a doctor of management degree from Webster University in September 2015. 

Dr. Thomas and his wife, Monica, have three children – Aaron, Amanda and Alex. All three are Ritenour graduates.
