FAQ

What is the purpose of the foundation?

The Ritenour Pride & Promise Foundation supports education in the Ritenour School District by providing incentive grants for students and teachers that encourage innovative and rigorous projects that advance educational opportunities and benefit schools and the community. The Foundation also provides post-secondary scholarships for Ritenour High School graduates.

Why give?

Most high schools have a foundation that enrich the academic experience at their alma mater.  Instilling the pride that former Ritenour students felt is part of our legacy to the next generation.  To be competitive in a global market, education can be the tool that affords an individual to take advantage when opportunity come along.  Some treasures can be lost but an educational experience is something that is yours for life that no one can take away. We can enrich that education by funding special projects that otherwise will go unfunded.

Who is involved in directing the Foundation?

It is managed and directed by a group of private citizens, who are volunteers, representing many aspects of the area's business, cultural and educational leadership.

Where does the money go?

The Pride & Promise Foundation provides funding for projects that will advance educational opportunities and benefit Ritenour schools and the community. Based on the district's philosophy of environmental responsibility and commitment to sustainability, project consideration in these areas is also encouraged. Continued student achievement is supported by the funding of post-secondary education scholarships to Ritenour High School graduates.

Are the donations to the Foundation tax deductible?

Yes. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.

Who decides what projects and programs the Foundation will support?

Twice annually the Foundation Board of Directors will review submitted applications for grants and funds. Distributions are awarded to eligible recipients (student and employees of the Ritenour School District) who have submitted proposals that are competitively reviewed. The Foundation further supports student achievement by the funding of post-secondary education scholarships.

Initiatives funded include, but are not limited to:

  • Educational and financial need (scholarship)
  • School and community activities (scholarship)
  • Academic success at Ritenour High School (scholarship)
  • Innovative and creative initiatives that support student achievement
  • Alignment with Ritenour School District strategic goals
  • Potential impact on large number of students
  • Overall quality of application

How does the Foundation raise its funds?

Funding is obtained by the Foundation’s fundraising and solicitation with the general public, Ritenour School District alumni, employees and parents, friends of the district, businesses, community groups and other charitable organizations/foundations.

Are there any assurances that the Foundation will use its funds as intended?

The Foundation board has strict guidelines of the proper use of funds.

How much does it cost to administer the Foundation?

The Pride & Promise Foundation has no paid staff or other fixed expenses. All administrative costs are associated with promoting the causes of the Foundation and fundraising.
