Professional Development Awards

The Ritenour School District has a variety of awards to recognize high quality teachers and staff who demonstrate an alignment with our mission, vision, and core values in their performance each and every day.

Nominations for awards are due by November. Links to nomination forms will be available in the fall.

Diamond Circle Award 
Diamond Circle employees are chosen each year by their colleagues to represent the many Ritenour professionals throughout the district who best exemplify the district’s commitment to quality education and service.  

First Class Teacher Award 
Each year, the First Class Teacher Award honors one first-year in the district for their success in the classroom. Candidates are selected for demonstrating rigor, relevance, engagement, command of curriculum and distinguishing characteristics.  

Make a Difference Award 
The Make a Difference Award recognizes a member of the Ritenour educational community for their efforts in supporting the diverse needs of students academically, socially and emotionally in a variety of learning settings.  

Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award
The Emerson Excellence in Teaching Awards program, sponsored by Emerson, annually recognizes more than 100 teachers – from kindergarten to college professors – who are examples of excellence in the field of education in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Recipients are selected by the chief administrators of their school districts or educational institutions. The employing educational institution must be located in the St. Louis metropolitan area, which is defined to include: (in Missouri) Franklin County, Jefferson County, St. Charles County, St. Louis City, St. Louis County; and (in Illinois) Jersey County, Madison County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County.
