Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year

July 2026

Dear Iveland Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! We have been working hard this summer to prepare for your students! We hope you are enjoying your break away from school, but also looking forward to being back in the routine and structure of a school day. We welcome all our new families who are joining us.

Our goals at Iveland are to create a welcoming, supportive environment where every student can reach their full potential. To do this, we need our students to be in attendance every day. Every child should be able to meet the goal of 90% attendance. We ask families to support us in this goal. Our academic goal is for every student to make at minimum one year’s worth of academic progress and build strong, lasting relationships with staff and peers.

To best help us work together, please note the following dates:

  • Chromebook Distribution will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 8 to 11 a.m. and on Thursday, Aug. 13 from 1 to 5 p.m.
  • Popsicles with the Principal will be Friday, Aug. 14 from 4 to 5 p.m. Please join us on the back blacktop for a popsicle and to say hi!
  • Kindergarten Transition Day will be Thursday, Aug. 20 from 9:15 to 11 a.m. (Doors open at 9 a.m.)
  • Meet the Teacher for Grades 1-5 is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Kindergarten Open House will be Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 5 p.m.

Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the "Iveland Family and Student Handbook." It details the operations of the school that we will ask you to follow. These operations include arrival and dismissal, attendance, birthday treats, cellphone usage and other important details you need.

We want to welcome three new classroom teachers to Iveland. Wiralba Pichardo, Sharonda Baker and Carson Amstutz all will be familiar faces to Iveland students. Ms. Pichardo and Ms. Baker completed a teacher residency here last year, and Mr. Amstutz was a student teacher here. All three demonstrated their strong instructional practices and dedication to building strong learning communities so we are honored to have them join us in this new capacity.

We have some grade-level teacher movement this year to accommodate changing enrollment in each grade level and to create some dynamic grade-level teams! Here are our grade-level teams for this school year:

  • Kindergarten – Ms. Harris, Ms. Meyer, and Ms. Waller
  • First Grade – Ms. Butler, Ms. Vreeland and Ms. Walentik
  • Second Grade – Ms. Herron, Ms. Kirkwood, Ms. Martin and Ms. Weiterman
  • Third Grade – Ms. Ashen, Ms. Bird, Ms. Pichardo and Ms. Shields
  • Fourth Grade – Mr. Amstutz, Ms. Burkemper, and Ms. Ming
  • Fifth Grade – Ms. Baker, Mr. Bondy, Ms. Diehl and Ms. King

Please feel free to contact us at any time. The school’s number is (314) 493-6330.
We look forward to working with you this year and watching the progress and growth your child makes!

Your principals,

Amanda Connelly, Principal
