Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year

Dear Wyland Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I am thrilled to begin a new, exciting school year at Wyland Elementary, where we remain deeply committed to creating a safe, nurturing and engaging environment for all students. Whether you are a returning family or new to our community, we are honored to partner with you in your child’s educational journey.

This will be my first year as principal here, and I am looking forward to connecting with you and your child. A little about me: I’ve been in education since 2006. I’ve taught several grades throughout my career (first, third, and fifth grades, as well as grades 6-8). This is my 10th year in administration and my first as a head principal. I have been in the Ritenour School District for the last four years. I know that as we build together, great things are yet to come here at Wyland. When I’m not here, I love to spend time with family, roller skate and read, and pretty much all things NBA are my wheelhouse.

At Wyland, we continue to embrace Competency-Based Education (CBE), which allows students to progress at a pace tailored to their unique learning needs while mastering grade-level content. We are very excited to be starting a new science curriculum called Experience Science. It’s designed to give students more opportunities for experiments and enhance their rigor with grade-level content. This is especially important in helping our fifth grade excel on their MAP test in the spring.

You will find a digital packet with important information to help you and your child prepare for the school year, including key dates and safety procedures. Please take a moment to review the Ritenour “Updating Annual Back-to-School Information” instructions and complete all necessary forms through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

We are excited to keep you connected throughout the year! Be sure to follow “Wyland Elementary and PTO” on Facebook for school updates, event highlights and ways to get involved. You can also stay informed by joining our Wyland Class Dojo for classroom and schoolwide communication, and checking out our Wyland Announcements in the Weekend Update that you’ll receive every Friday.

We also encourage you to be actively involved in our school community. Below are some important upcoming events:

  • Kindergarten Camp: Monday,  Aug. 3 – Friday, Aug. 7 (registration required)
  • Popsicles with Principals: Tuesday, Aug. 11, 5 – 6 p.m.
  • Ritenour Black & Orange Back-to-School Resource Fair: Saturday, Aug. 15, 8-11 a.m. at Ritenour High School, 9100 St. Charles Rock Road
  • Kindergarten Transition Day: Thursday, Aug. 20, 9:15 – 11 a.m. (doors open at 9)
  • Open House/Title 1.A Annual Fall Meeting, Grades 1-5: Thursday, Aug. 27, 5 – 6:30 p.m.
  • Kindergarten Meet the Teacher: Wednesday, Sept. 3, 5-6 p.m.
