Ritenour Names New Interim Director of Transportation

The Ritenour School District is pleased to announce Veronica Rolley as the new interim director of transportation, effective July 1. The board of education approved her appointment at its Feb. 12 meeting.
Rolley, who has been the dispatcher for the district’s transportation department since October 2024, brings nearly three decades of experience in school bus transportation. She joined the Ritenour community in 2012 as a bus driver with First Student for Ritenour bus routes. She then became a Ritenour bus driver when the district started its own fleet in 2017. Her career in school bus transportation began in 1997 in Columbia, Mo.
During her tenure in Ritenour, Rolley has worked hard to create positive relationships with students and families of the more than 4,000 Ritenour bus riders, as well as with 27 district bus drivers, transportation colleagues and administrators. She also coordinates bus routes and safety inspections. Additionally, she provided important guidance during the district’s transition from a diesel to an electric bus fleet during the spring of 2025.
This year, Rolley has been playing a key role in all transportation operations, which include coordinating routes when bus drivers are absent to ensure a timely arrival at school, maintaining buses on the lot or bringing them to a bus facility, coordinating travel for high school athletics and school field trips, and coordinating summer school routes.
Rolley also has played a key role in the district’s transition to a new bus routing system that will allow families to track their children’s school buses in real time. The new system and parent app are expected to be in place for the upcoming school year.
“Ms. Rolley’s long track record as a driver who puts the safety of students and positive relationships first, combined with her strong leadership in managing complex bus routes and ability to quickly resolve transportation issues, make her an excellent choice to lead Ritenour’s transportation department,” said Superintendent Dr. Chris Kilbride. “She brings a strong work ethic and commitment to keeping our transportation team the best in the St. Louis area.”
Rolley will replace Bryan Sanker, who is retiring at the end of the 2025-2026 school year.
