Ritenour Students Honor Veterans with Hero Celebrations
Ritenour students participated in heartwarming tributes to our nation’s heroes during Veterans Day celebrations throughout the week of Nov. 10, showcasing gratitude and respect for those who have served in the U.S. military.
Kratz Elementary’s celebration on Nov. 11 kicked off with a delicious breakfast for military heroes in the school library that donned patriotic decorations and heartfelt, sweet notes from students thanking our veterans for their bravery and sacrifices they've made to protect their freedom. Following the breakfast, Kratz's first-graders led a moving assembly with patriotic songs. Veterans who were related to Kratz students and staff also were honored by name and military branch.

On Nov. 13, the Marvin Elementary Stars shined bright as they celebrated veterans with a patriotic assembly opened by the Ritenour High School JROTC color guard during Marvin students singing the National Anthem. Two guest military speakers - retired U.S. Army Sgt. Donna Pratt and retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Sabrina Luttrell-Andrews inspired the students in between songs led by Marvin second-graders.

Pratt reminded students they can continue honoring veterans by being at their best every day by remembering three important values: “Being different makes us special. Helping others makes us strong. Showing kindness makes the world a better place.”
Several other Ritenour schools recognized Veterans Day:
- Wyland Elementary’s Wall of Honor showcased students’ family members who served in different branches of the military.
- Iveland Elementary students created a patriotic hallway of art.
- At Ritenour Middle School, students spent their Husky Time writing letters to veterans.
- Ritenour High School Leadership students honored military veterans among their staff with a special lunch from Snarfs.
Ritenour was very proud to salute its six U.S. veterans who continue service to their country now as Ritenour administrators, educators and support staff.
