PowerSchool Videos & Info
PowerSchool provided four optional teacher trainings on July 29. Approximately 80 teachers attended via Zoom. Three of the sessions were successfully recorded and are linked below.
Watch these videos to learn how to use the PowerSchool SIS. For best results, make the video full-screen and select "HD" in the lower right.

PowerSchool is single sign-on with your Ritenour Gmail. This means that you need to log into your Gmail account prior to access the PowerSchool website. The website to PowerSchool for Ritenour teachers is:
ritenour.powerschool.com/teachers
Please note that your view will look slightly different than the training site used in the videos. In addition, based on teacher feedback, some additional customizations were installed after the training.
Columns were added that show room number and student count. Lunch counts have been hidden.
A term filter dropdown was added so you can see classes in all terms and select which term you want to view.
There is also a link on the main page that will allow you to submit a referral and another link that will allow you to see the outcome of referrals that you have submitted.
A new customization was installed for the high school, middle schools, and the IWC. A red chair will display on the teachers meeting attendance page for any student who has had any type of attendance code entered into meeting or daily attendance previous to this class. Teachers can click on the red chair for additional information.
We have enabled some customizations that should allow for a workable solution to replace the Parent / Student Contact Log from Tyler plus a few additional items.
From the teacher homepage, click the Student Information link for a particular class. On the left side of the screen click Utility Dashboard. Click a student from the left side of the screen.
There will be three tabs on your screen (Log Entry, Test Results, and Graduation Planner View).
The Log Entry tab will allow you to view or create Parent Contact Logs and you are able to view logs created by any user. When you click New to create a log you want to select Parent Contact for log type. You just need to complete the first few lines and click submit. The rest of the lines should not be used. They are for historical discipline logs from Tyler (you can't see these).
The Test Results tab will show you assessment data for that student. This is a work in progress. Assessments are still being created and imported.
The Graduation Planner View table will show a high school student's progress towards graduation. This is a work in progress and should not be shared with students at this time.
11/11/2024 - We have enabled three customizations in PowerSchool Teachers today. Please see below.
1. Student Directory - On the left side of the screen click Student Directory. This customization allows teachers to see a directory listing of students at the current school. Teachers can do a search or filter on first name, last name, grade level, gender, homeroom, my student, or student number. On the row with the student name are links to popups that show demographics information, year list schedule, weekly schedule, and where the student can currently be found.
2. Teacher Student Search - There is now a student search bar above current classes. This customization allows teachers to quickly find which class(es) a student is enrolled in with them, allowing them to jump straight into the attendance, student information, seating chart, or PowerTeacherPro page they need to interact with that student. Simply start typing part of the student's name into the search dialog and an autocomplete will pop up. Either press return to select multiple matched students, or select the student you want specifically and the classes that the selected student is enrolled in will be highlighted, or, optionally, all classes the student is not enrolled in will vanish. Teachers can temporarily override the search behavior or set it as a preference on their Manage Profile page.
3. Teacher Dashboard - Select student information on the main page and select a student. When you go to the select screens dropdown, there is now a new screen called Teacher Dashboard 4. This screen combines several other screens (Quick Lookup, Cumulative Grade Information, Current Schedule and Net Access) into one view.
11/26/2024 - We have enabled some additional customizations to PowerTeacher and PowerTeacher Pro today. Please see below.
PowerTeacher
1. Attendance Report - This customization adds an Attendance Report link to the left Navigation menu in PowerTeacher that provides student daily and meeting information for students enrolled in one or more of the teacher’s currently assigned sections for a selected date.
2. Quick Contacts - When you select a student, you will now see an icon in the alert section on every student page. Clicking the alert will provide a pop up of the student's contact management information.
3. Class Attendance Summary – This customization added a Class Attendance icon on the home page next to each class. This will provide pertinent attendance information for each class and can be exported. In order to add this I did have to remove the column that showed the room number.
PowerTeacher Pro
1. Class Reports - There are now six (6) additional reports added to the Class section of PowerTeacher Pro. Not all will be useful since we do not use grading in PowerSchool, but some might be helpful.
2. Reports – There is now an Attendance Date Report that provides daily and meeting attendance for your students.
3. Students – There are now four (4) additional student view pages. These include Daily Attendance, Meeting Attendance, Historical Grades, and Test Scores.
